Alignment of carbon nanotubes under low magnetic fields through attachment of magnetic nanoparticles

Article Abstract:

The alignment of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) are accomplished through deposition of uniform layers of magenetite/maghemite nanoparticles and use of an external magnetic field. The particle-coated MWNTs are superparamagnetic and can be aligned at room temperature on any substrate by deposition from an aqueous solution in an external field.

Anisotropic metal nanoparticles: Synthesis, assembly, and optical applications

Article Abstract:

The synthesis, assembly, reactivity, and optical applications of metallic nanoparticles of nonspherical shape, especially nanorods is carried out. Details of optical applications in sensing and imaging, which take advantage of the visible light absorption and scattering properties of the nanorods, are discussed.

Microstructure control of Zn/ZnO core/shell nanoparticles and their temperature-dependent blue emissions

Article Abstract:

A simple method to prepare the microstructure of the Zn/ZnO core/shell nanoparticles controlled by laser ablation in liquid medium is demonstrated. The synthesis provides insight into physical origins of the blue emission in nanostructured ZnO as well as its use in optical and electronic applications.
