Alternative self-assembled films of metal-ion-bridged 3,4,9,10-perylenetetracarboxylic acids on nanostructured TiO(sub 2) electrodes and their photoelectrochemical properties

Article Abstract:

A 3,4,9,10-perylenetetracarboxylic acid (PTA) sensitized nanocrystalline TiO(sub 2) electrode (P) and three alternative metal-ion-bridged self-assembled films of PTA on nanocrystalline TiO(sub 2) electrodes are constructed. The experimental results indicate that film PRu(super 3+)P would be a competitive candidate among photosensitizers on porous TiO(sub 2) films after optimization.

Pseudohalogens for dye-sensitized TiO2 photoelectrochemical cells

Article Abstract:

The pseudohalogens redox couples are evaluated to determine the effect of the equilibrium potential of the redox couple on the energetics and kinetics of dye-sensitized TiO2 photoelectronchemical cells. The results revealed that selecting a redox couple with a more positive equilibrium potential does not necessarily translate into an increase of the open circuit potential.

Formation and optical properties of cylindrical gold nanoshells on silica and titania nanorods

Article Abstract:

The formation and properties of silica and titania nanorods encapsulated with a thin gold shell is presented. The results suggest that the formation of general class of oxide-metal core-shell systems should be possible, giving 4 degrees of freedom in tuning the optical properties; core material, core diameter, shell material, and shell thickness.
