American Cyanamid

Article Abstract:

American Cyanamid Co of Parsippany, NJ, is a significant player in the weed and insect control chemicals market. The company was formed in 1907 as a producer of synthetic fertilizer but moved into the production of malathion for the public health sector. Among its significant products are the Thimet and Counter organophosphate insecticides and the Prowl herbicide. American Cyanamid is currently focusing on its imidazolinone product line, and has signed a deal with Monsanto to co-market glyphosate on Roundup Ready crops.

Article Abstract:

Uniroyal Chemical Co has evolved into a major producer of crop protection products as it developed a market for its vulcanized chemicals. Among its significant products are the Vitavax systematic fungicide, the Omite miticide, the Royal MH-30 plant growth regulator, and daminozide which was marketed as B-Nine in ornamentals and Alar in fruit. Uniroyal said that its agrochemical division now outperforms its rubber division as a result of strong performance of its fungicides and seed treatments.

Among its significant products are the Treflan herbicide, DursbanLorsban (chlorpyrifos) superinsecticides, and Tracer bioinsecticide. The company is currently focusing on IPM because of its specific activity, safety to beneficials and effectiveness in product rotation. Dow said that it will also develop plant products that can manufacture proteins for a variety of applications.
