An apparent general solution for the kinetic models of the bacteriorhodopsin photocycles

Article Abstract:

A study reexamined the basis for the reversible, homogenous, model (RHM) with a focus on complete description of the model vis a vis the unidirectional, parallel model (UPM) in an in-depth study. Either a UPM or a parallel cycle model with limited reversibility correctly describes photocycle data collected at pH 5,7, and 9 and at 10, 20, and 30 degree and is consistent with all known experimental observations.

Article Abstract:

Supporting Information is provided for an apparent general solution for the kinetic models of the bacteriorhodopsin photocycle. The studies have showed that it seems safer to avoid the use of MA procedures for the study of BR photocycle kinetics.

Critical evaluation of kinetic models for bacteriorhodopsin photocycles

Article Abstract:

The field of bacteriorhodopsin (BR) photocycle kinetics is described using various models. The parallel unidirectional model was the only one to meet all the criteria to know when a given solution was acceptable.
