Assignment of gas-phase dipeptide amide hydrogen exchange rate constants by site-specific substitution: GlyGly

Article Abstract:

An assignment that helps in determining the H/D exchange rate constants for the N-terminal ammonium, amide hydrogen and carboxyl hydrogens in diglycine, based on comparison of site-specific gas-phase H/D exchange rate constants for diglycine (GlyGly) and its selectively methylated homologues is presented. The results show that the same (fast) reaction rate constant is demonstrated by the three N-terminal ammonium protons of protonated diglycine, amide hydrogen has intermediate reaction rate constant and carboxylic proton has the slowest exchange rate.

Gas-phase production of molybdenum carbide, nitride, and sulfide clusters and nanocrystallites

Article Abstract:

The formation of neutral molybdenum, carbide, nitride and sulfide clusters and nanocrystallites using a laser ablation plasma reactor is investigated. Mass distributions, stability, and reactivity of neutral and charged clusters of a wide range of transition-metal compounds consisting of a few atoms to very large particles containing more than 100 metal atoms is explored.
