In situ X-ray scattering study of the passive film on Ni(III) in sulfuric acid solution

Article Abstract:

Results of an in situ X-ray scattering study of the passive film on Ni (III) in sulfuric acid solution show distinct differences between the passive film present at the metal-electrolyte interface and the oxide formed in the gas phase. Details of the study are presented.

Benzotriazole adsorption and inhibition of Cu(100) corrosion in HCl: a combined in sittu STM and in situ FTIR spectroscopy study

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze the adsorption and corrosion inhibiting effect of benzotriazole (BTAH) on Cu(100) electrodes in 0.1 M HCl. In-situ STM, in situ FTIR spectroscopy and electrochemical measurements were utilized to carry out the analysis. Experimental results indicated the presence of a novel adlayer phase on the Cu(100) surface and a mechanism different from BTAH-containing H2SO4 solutions.
