Bimetallic clusters by underpotential deposition of layered Au nanoparticle films

Article Abstract:

Well-defined characteristics of underpotential deposition systems (UPD) events on colloidal gold nanoparticles (AuNP) films, selecting the representative systems of Ag, Cu, Pb, and Tl on Au, are described. The potential cycling, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy demonstrate that the bimetallic cluster of Ag or Cu on AuNPs is a core-shell shape, while the bimetallic cluster of Pb or Tl on AuNPs forms an alloyed structure.

Electronic structure and interface formation during nickel deposition on polycrystalline aluminum

Article Abstract:

The deposition of nickel on polycrystalline aluminum substrates at room temperature by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), angle-resolved X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (ARXPS), and valence band X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (VBXPS) is studied. The growth of the nickel on the aluminum surface is found to occur in two stages.

Band structure and molecular orientation of ultrathin epitaxial films of squaric acid

Article Abstract:

An angle-resolved ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy (ARUPS) of an epitaxial squaric acid (SQ) film is measured and analyzed. The molecular orientation was estimated by analyzing distribution of the photoelectron intensities from various molecular orbitals using independent atomic center approximation.
