Characterization of aluminophosphate-based tubular mesoporous molecular sieves

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to examine the complete synthetic details of the preparation of aluminophosphate-based tubular mesoporous molecular sieves together with comprehensive characterization of the material. The characterization was carried out by powder X-ray diffraction electron probe microanalysis, transmission electron microscopy, N2 adsorption and 27Al, 31P and 29Si magic-angle-spinning NMR spectroscopies. Results demonstrate that the synthesis can be performed over a broad range of gel composition which is successful only at room temperature in basic media by addition of an organic base.

Structure of graphite oxide revisited

Article Abstract:

The structural properties of graphite oxide and its analogues were investigated using (sub 13)C and (sub 1)H nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The 60 ppm line was assigned to epoxide groups (1,2-ethers) and not to 1,3-ethers to develop a new structural model for graphite oxide. Graphite oxide consists of two kinds of regions, namely, aromatic regions with unoxidized benzene rings and regions with aliphatic six-membered rings. It was found that the formation of phenol or aromatic diol groups during deoxygenation suggests that the epoxide and the C-OH groups are very near to each other.

Synthesis and characterization of mesoporous chromium-containing silica tube molecular sieves CrMCM-41

Article Abstract:

CrMCM-41 is synthesized and characterized using powder x-ray diffraction, electron probe microanalysis, Fourier transform infrared diffuse reflectance UV-visible spectroscopy, electron spin resonance, electron spin-echo modulation, Raman spectroscopy, Si MAS NMR and N2 adsorption. Results show that as-synthesized CrMCM-41 materials have MCM-41 structure and atomically dispersed Cr(II). Cr(VI) monochromate is also observed in calcined CrMCM-41.
