Characterization of the porosity in SBA-15 silicas by hyperpolarized (super 129)Xe NMR

Article Abstract:

Characterization of SBA-15 samples prepared at several different temperatures by hyperpolarized 129Xe NMR spectroscopy is presented. Results reveal that the evolution of the chemical shift with the NMR measurement temperature allows evaluation of the heat of adsorption of xenon, which increases for SBA-15 synthesized at higher temperature, in parallel with the decrease of the size of the surface micropores.

NMR spectroscopic study of noble gas binding into the engineered cavity of HPr(114A) from Staphylococcus carnosus

Article Abstract:

The interaction of helium, neon, and argon with hydrophobic cavities in proteins is investigated by NMR spectroscopy. It is concluded that argon binding into the engineering cavity of histidine-containing phosphocarrier protein (HPr(114A)) induces effects similar to those induced by xenon which makes argon an interesting alternative to xenon in chemical shift mapping experiments.

Nonideal effects on the excess volume from small to large cavities in TIP4P water

Article Abstract:

Partial molar volumes for hard-sphere cavities in TIP4P water are computed running Monte Carlo simulations. The excess volumes extracted from these data show a nonideal contribution that changes sign for a radius between 8 and 10 Armstrong.
