Charge carrier dynamics of standard TiO2 catalysts revealed by femtosecond diffuse reflectance spectroscopy

Article Abstract:

Time-resolved femtosecond diffuse reflectance spectroscopy was used in studying the behavior of charge carriers produced by femtosecond UV excitation in five standard TiO2 photocatalytic powders in vacuum and in air. The samples have been heated in pure O2 in a quartz cell at 723 K for four hours and then degassed to 1 X 10 raised to the negative fifth power at 473 K for one hour. Results indicate that slow electron-hole recombinations exist in the anatase TiO2 catalysts but rapid decay was not observed in the rutile catalysts.

Trans-cis photoisomerization of photoactive yellow protein model chromophore in crystalline phase

Article Abstract:

The photoinduced trans/cis isomerization of the protonated form of p-hydroxycinnamic thiophenyl ester, a model chromophore of the photoactive yellow protein (PYP), in crystalline phase, is studied by both fluorescence and infrared spectroscopies. The conversion from trans to cis configuration is revealed by a shift of the fluorescence peak and by inspection of the infrared maker bands.

Size-dependent optical properties of polydiacetylene nanocrystal

Article Abstract:

The size-dependent optical properties of poly-1,6-di(N-carbazoyl)-2,4-hexadiyne (poly-DCHD) nanocrystals in ensemble and in a single particle level is investigated. The Rayleigh scattering provides the direct measure of the backbone electronic properties and the Raman spectral properties give a better vie on the structural aspects.
