Charge transfer on the nanoscale: current status

Article Abstract:

A DOE sponsored workshop organized to discuss the status of our understanding of charge transfer processes on the nanoscale is reported and the research and other needs for progress in nanoscience and nanotechnology are identified. The findings state that chemistry can progress in an Edisonian manner but the greatest and most satisfying advances have come through the knowledge of molecular structure and insights from principles based on that knowledge.

Charge transfer through terthiophene end-capped poly(arylene ethynylene)s

Article Abstract:

The results of an investigation of a series of poly(arylene ethynylene)s (PAE)s and poly(phenylene ethynylene)s (PPE)s that are end-capped with alpha-terthiophene( T3) groups are reported and are characterized by proton NMR, GPC, and optical spectroscopy. These polymers were designed to allow investigation of the spectroscopy and dynamics of cation radicals created on the single polymer chains by pulse radiolysis.

Radical ion states of platinum acetylide oligomers

Article Abstract:

The study about the ion radicals of two series of platinum acetylide oligomers conducted by employing electrochemical and pulse radiolysis/transient absorption methods is presented. Results suggest that the polarons are delocalized to some extent on the platinum acetylide chains.
