Collision-induced dissociation of water into ions

Article Abstract:

A modification of the central force model that describes the dissociation of water molecules into OH- and H+ ions is proposed for molecular dynamics simulations of energetic particle bombardment of water ice. Carbon projectiles are demonstrated to produce more dissociated ions at energies lower than 300 eV.

Exciton coupling of tetra(p-hydroxyphenyl)porphyrin controlled by substituents of counterions in Triton X-100 micellar solution

Article Abstract:

The interactions of nonionic meso-tetra(p-hydroxyphenyl)porphyrin (THPP) with C[X.sub.3]COOH in Triton X-100 micellar solution are investigated. The nature of the exciton coupling of transition dipole moment can be systematically changed by the haloid substituents of the organic counteranion.

Relative antioxidant efficiency of a large series of carotenoids in terms of one electron transfer reactions

Article Abstract:

The relative antioxidant efficiency of a various carotenoids is studied as their electron donating capability. The analysis shows that the described approach can be easily used for preventing and repairing the oxidative damage in living cells.
