Confinement-induced phase behavior and adsorption regulation of ionic surfactants in the aqueous film between charged solids

Article Abstract:

Self-consistent field theory for adsorption and association is utilized to calculate the adsorption of an ionic surfactant (C16P3(sub +)) to two identical, negatively charged, slightly hydrophobic solids separated by a thin film and immersed in an infinite reservoir of aqueous 1:1 electrolyte. The consequence of findings is described in the context of experimental studies of interaction forces and images of adsorbed structures with atomic force microscopy.

The sodium ion affinity of glycylglycine

Article Abstract:

A study to clarify the discrepancies of the sodium ion (Na(super +1)) binding energy of glycylglycine (GlyGly), is presented by calculating at higher ab initio level than previously used. Further, a new series of kinetic method experiments are conducted that would replace the nucleobase reference bases to yield underestimated Na(super +1) affinities with amino acid reference bases.

Photoswitchable elements within a peptide backbone-ultrafast spectroscopy of thioxylated amides

Article Abstract:

A series of thioxo compounds, thioacetamide, N-methylthioacetamide, a cyclic thioxoamide, two thioxylated dipeptides and a thioxylated dodacapeptide are investigated by ultrafast spectroscopy in the visible and near UV. It was shown that peptides containing a thioxo peptide bond show very similar absorption kinetics as thioacetamide and N-methylthioacetamide.
