Contribution of translational and rotational entropy to the unfolding of a dimeric coiled-coil

Article Abstract:

The influence of translational and rotational entropy in the unfolding of a dimeric coiled-coil has been investigated in aqueous solution. To this end, the calorimetrically measured unfolding entropies of a synthetic two-stranded alpha-helical coiled-coil with and without a disulfide bond between the two polypeptide chains were compared to determine the entropy of intersubunit cross-linking of a compound. The resultant translational and rotational entropy was found to be more than an order of magnitude smaller than estimates based on ideal gas statistics.

How to make a job share work for you

Article Abstract:

Job sharing started during the 1970s and has become increasingly more popular. Two people share one job, dividing the work week between the two with some overlapping days or hours. The challenge in managing the job is to educate others that neither of the two workers can handle more than the part-time work allotment. Special attention such as adhering to scheduled time, attending meeting together and leaving regular reminders is important.
