Cooperative binding of surfactant ions by small oligomers of opposite charge

Article Abstract:

Potentiometric techniques based on a surfactant-ion-selective solid-state membrane electrode is used to investigate the binding of cationic surfactant, dodecylpyridinium ion [DP)super plus)], by anionic oligomers like citrate, triphosphate and tetraphosphate in the presence of NaCl. The results indicate that the cooperative binding of surfactant ions by oppositely charged polyion takes place when the polyion has at least five charged binding sites.

Cooperative binding and the conformation of poly(L-glutamic acid) in guanidinium salts with an alkanoylamidoalkyl group

Article Abstract:

The change in the conformation of poly(L-glutamic acid) from a random coil to an alpha-helix in solutions of guanidinium salts with a dodecanoylamidoalkyl group, C12A(sub m)G, is investigated. The results proved that C12A(sub m)G binds strongly to P(Glu), and that the methylene spacer between the acyl group and the guanidinium ion affects both C12A(sub m)G binding and formation of the alpha-helix in P(Glu).

Novel class of aeschynite structure of LaNbTi[O.sub.6]-based orange-red phosphors via a modified combustion approach

Article Abstract:

A newly discovered modified combustion approach is utilized for the synthesis of a novel class of aeschynite structure of LaNbTi[O.sub.6]-based orange-red phosphors. These phosphors can be widely used in various luminescence and display devices.
