Crystal-face dependence and photoetching-induced increases of Dye-sensitized photocurrents at single-crystal rutile TiO2 surfaces

Article Abstract:

Study is presented to investigate the crystal-face dependence and the photoetching-induced enhancement of the dye-sensitized photocurrents at the TiO2 rutile surface is conducted using (100)-, (001)-, and (110)-cut and photoetched TiO2 surfaces. The (001)- and (100)-cut surfaces showed much larger increases in the photocurrent than the increase in the surface area, clearly indicating the importance of the removal of the inactive surface layers at thermodynamically unstable crystal surfaces.

Nature of electrical junction at the TiO2/substrate interface for particulate TiO2 film electrodes in aqueous electrolytes

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze the nature of electrical junction at the TiO2/substrate interface for particulate TiO2 film electrodes in aqueous electrolytes. The particulate TiO2 film was scanned over a short range by ionic charges in the electrolyte within the film. Experimental results indicated that single-crystal n-TiO2 electrodes exhibited differences in deviation from the flat-band potential.

Selective formation of nanoholes with (100)-face walls by photoetching of n-TiO2 (rutile) electrodes, accompanied by increases in water-oxidation photocurrent

Article Abstract:

The illumination of single-crystal rutile-type n-titanium dioxide (001), (110) and (100) electrodes in 0.05 M H2SO4 under anodic bias is described. It was clearly shown that only the (100) face or equivalents are selectively exposed at the walls of photoproduced rectangular holes and grooves.
