Crystalline silicon carbide nanoparticles encapsulated in branched wavelike carbon nanotubes: Synthesis and optical properties

Article Abstract:

A novel nanostructure, cubic silicon carbide (3C-SiC) nanoparticles encapsulated in branched wavelike carbon nanotubes are prepared by a reaction of 1,2-dimenthoxyethane, SiCl4 and Mg in an autoclave at 600 degree Celsius. A sequential deposition growth process for the nanostructure was proposed.

C60 on SiC nanomesh

Article Abstract:

The growth behaviors of C60 molecules on SiC nanomesh at room temperature is systematically investigated using in situ scanning tunneling microscopy. After deposition of 1 ML C60, a complete layer of hexagonally close-packed C60 molecules forms on top of the SiC nanomesh.
