Determination of microscopic rate constants for CO binding and migration in myoglobin encapsulated in silica gels

Article Abstract:

CO rebinding kinetics after nanosecond photolysis of myoglobin encapsulated in wet silica gels exhibits an enhanced geminate phase that allows the determination of the microscopic rate constants and the activation barriers for distinct ligand docking sites inside the protein matrix. The germinate phase can be well-described by a biphasic lifetime distribution, using a maximum entropy method, reflecting rebinding from the distal and proximal sites.

NMR cross-polarization when T(sub IS)> T(sub Ip); examples from silica gel and calcium silicate hydrates

Article Abstract:

Experiments to show the reverse situation where T(super IS) > T(sub 1p)(super I), slow CP regime may occur through the NMR cross-polarization (CP) measurements is seen. Examples are given on silica gel and calcium silicate hydrate samples for which the proper analysis allows a deeper insight into the nature of the protonated surfaces.

In Situ SAXS analysis of silica gel formation with an additive

Article Abstract:

Time resolved small-angle x-ray scattering (SAXS) measurements performed at the time of formation of tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) based silica gels in alcohol with 3-(2- aminoethylamono) propyltrimethoxysilane (EDAS), as an additive is nanostructure at the gel point are reported.
