Determination of the peripheral contact angle of sessile drops on solids from the rate of drop evaporation

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to character the initial peripheral contact angle of sessile drops on solid surfaces from the rate of drop evaporation. Data published by S.M. Rowan, M.I. Newton and G.J. McHale were utilized to determine the properties of the contact angle. A static contact radius was generated from the application of water drops on a PMMA polymer. Results indicated that the drop contact radius, initial weight and weight correlated with decreases in time.

Competing evaporation and condensation processes during the boiling of methane

Article Abstract:

A molecular dynamics study of the boiling of methane that revealed detailed insights in the nucleation and growth of vapor domains is presented. Growth of the precritical domain leads to the nucleation of a vapor phase in which isolated methane molecules are confined by a liquid-vapor interface.

Atomic and molecular parity nonconservation and sum frequency generation solutions to the Ozma problem

Article Abstract:

Two Ozma problems are defined which might be solved by bate decay or atomic optical activity. Atomic and molecular sum frequency generation is chosen, as it supplies rich methods of effecting 'gedanken' solutions to the Ozma problems.
