Diffusion coefficients of the ternary system alpha-cyclodextrin-sodium benzenesulfonate-water at 25 degrees C: the effect of chemical equilibrium and complex formation on the diffusion coefficients of a ternary system

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to examine the diffusion coefficients of the ternary system alpha-cyclodextrin-sodium benzenesulfonate-water at 25 degrees C. Based on the higher mobility of the inclusion complex, it is concluded that it is possible to calculate positive cross diffusion coefficients in the presence of binding complexes. A better agreement with the set of experimental data was derived applying a phenomenological treatment with the inclusion of the two cross terms treated as adjusting parameters.

The effect of salt on protein chemical potential determined by ternary diffusion in aqueous solutions

Article Abstract:

The thermodynamic data and diffusion in aqueous solutions are studied to determine the effect of a salt on the protein chemical potential of the solution. The results show that the common-ion effect dominates the dependence of the protein chemical potential on salt concentration and hence affects the protein solubility.

Precision of interferometric diffusion coefficients in a four-component system relevant to protein crystal growth: Lysozyme-tetra(ethylene glycol)-NaC1-H20

Article Abstract:

The precision of Rayleigh interferometry in evaluating the nine mutual diffusion coefficients D(sub ij) a four-component system by examining the system lysozyme-tetra(ethylene glycol)-Nacl-H2O is investigated. The results are successful experimental determination of diffusion coefficients in quaternary systems.
