Direct chemical mapping of electrochemically generated spatial composition gradients on thin gold films with surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy

Article Abstract:

Experiments were done to map the composition of electrochemically generated gradients in aromatic thiols on Au electrodes using surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). The experiment resulted in formation of one-component gradient and two-component gradient where it was possible to perform measurements of surface composition as a function of spatial position, thereby achieving chemical mapping of the surface.

Raman excitation profiles with self-consistent excited-state displacements

Article Abstract:

Raman excitation profiles in the time domain are associated with projections of ground-state vibrational functions on excited-state potentials and their subsequent time evolution. The analysis of multimode Raman intensities relies on time-correlator methods developed by Heller, that bypass tedious sums over excited states.

In situ Raman spectroscopy of supported transition metal oxide catalysts: (super 18)O(sub 2)-(super 16)O(sub 2) isotopic labeling studies

Article Abstract:

The isothermal isotopic exchange reaction of (super 18)O(sub 2) with (super 16)O of CrO3, MoO3, Nb2O5, WO3, V2O5, and Re2O7 supported on ZrO2 is investigated with in situ laser Raman spectroscopy. The Raman spectroscopy data reveal that all the supported transition metal oxides are present as a monooxo species on ZrO2.
