Double Hydrophilic Block Copolymer Monolayer Protected Hybrid Gold Nanoparticles and Their Shell Cross-Linking

Article Abstract:

A study to describe the synthesis of core/shell gold nanoparticles stabilized with a monolayer of double hydrophilic block copolymer and their stimuli responsiveness before and after shell cross-linking was performed. The study revealed that the shell cross-linking of the hybrid gold nanoparticles lead to a permanent core/shell nanostructure with much higher colloidal stability compared to non-cross-linking core/shell gold nanoparticles.

Direct observation of two types of monolayer bound ferricinium ions on gold: implications for electrocatalysis

Article Abstract:

The direct surface- enhanced Raman spectroscopic (SERS) observation of two thermodynamically and electrocatalytically different types of ferricium ions covalently bound to the redox active monolayer of 9- mercaptononyl- 5'- ferrocenylpentonate (MNFcP) on gold is reported. The results state that the hydrophilic fluoride ions act as accelerators but hydrophobic perchlorate ions act as inhibitors of the mediated electron transfer.

Electrocatalysis of peroxide reduction by Au-stabilized, Fe-containing poly(vinylpyridine) films

Article Abstract:

The electrocatalytic activity of iron-containing poly (vinylpyridine) (PVP) films toward H2O2 reduction is investigated. The results reveal that Fe(CN)6(super 3-) species confines on the PVP coated electrode surface, thus exhibiting catalytic activity, and further deposition of Au on this film enhances and stabilizes the catalytic activity.
