Double dative bond configuration: Pyrimidine on Ge(100)

Article Abstract:

The study investigated the adsorption of pyrimidine onto Ge(100) surface using real-time scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), temperature-programmed desorption (TPD), and density-functional theory (DFT), calculation. It concluded that the adsorbed pyrimidine molecules are titled about 40 degree with respect to the Ge surfaces, and through a Lewis acid-base reaction form bridges between the down-Ge atoms of neighboring Ge diner rows by double Ge-N dative bonding without loss of aromaticity.

Ultrafast hot-carrier dynamics at chemically modified Ge interfaces probed by SHG

Article Abstract:

The hot-carrier dynamics and nonlinear optical properties of S-terminated and Cl-terminated Ge(111) interfaces on the femtosecond time scale were investigated using time-resolved second-harmonic generation (SHG). The findings point to the importance of a proper choice of the alternative dielectric to be used in devices, as it would have a large impact on the carrier dynamics of the device, with consequences on device performance, degradation, and lifetime.

Stabilized amorphous germanium nanoparticles for lithium-storage material

Article Abstract:

Amorphous Ge nanoparticles are prepared by capping butyl groups and are characterized using XAS, TEM, FT-IR reflectance and electrochemical cycling. The capping ligand plays an important role in controlling the irreversible capacity as opposed to lithium-storage metals, which showed a large irreversible capacity.
