GERMANY: GROWING DEMAND FOR AEROSOLS

Article Abstract:

The industry federation IGA reports that in 1998 Germany's production of spray cans increased 4.6% to 820mn units. The growth of consumption was even steeper. For household sprays and technical products, the federation reports an increased production but falling demand.

GERMANY: BASF BOOSTING POLYISOBUTYLENE

Article Abstract:

By the third quarter of 2001 BASF is to double production capacity for polyisobutylene (PIB) in Ludwigshafen to 20,000 tpy. Altogether BASF produces annually 70,000 tonnes of low-molecular PIB, which is used in the production of sealants, adhesives and chewing gum.
