Early stages of ethylene polymerization using the Phillips CrOx/silica catalyst

Article Abstract:

The chemical reaction of ethylene with carbon monoxide prereduced Phillips CrOx/silica polymerization was evaluated using quadrupole mass spectrometry. It was established that three separate stages occurred in the polymerization of ethylene by CrOx/silica catalysts. These stages were initiation, propagation and chain termination. It was discovered that the initiation of ethylene polymerization over prereduced CrOx/silica catalyst resulted to the transient development of 1-hexene. This complemented the formation of chromacyclopentane intermediate species leading to the propagation phase.

Poly(N-acrylolysarcosine methyl ester) protein-resistant surfaces

Article Abstract:

A new class of protein-resistant films based on N-substituted glycine derivatives is presented and pulsed plasma deposited poly(N-acrylolysarcosine methyl ester) coatings are shown to be resistant toward the adsorption of fibrinogen and lysozyme. The deposition and ultraviolet (UV) irradiation of the polymer through a masked grid are some of the effective ways for generating negative and positive image protein arrays, respectively, onto a range of different substrate materials.

Analysis and regulation of unusual adsorption of phthalocyanine zinc(II) into a nafion film as investigated by UV-vis spectroscopic techniques

Article Abstract:

Unique adsorbing nafion/phthalocyanine zinc(II) (Nf/ZnPc)(sub ads) film is formed by the adsorption of ZnPc into the Nf film. This film is significantly different in a spectroscopic feature and electroactivity from the (Nf/ZnPc)(sub mix) film and the adsorption of ZnPc into the Nf film is regulated by simple pretreatments of the Nf film such as immersion in solvents and storage under solvent vapors.
