Effect of cholesterol and other additives on viscosity, self-diffusion coefficient, and intramolecular movements of oleic acid

Article Abstract:

The density, viscosity, self-diffusion coefficient and other such properties of various liquid samples of oleic acid are measured to evaluate and understand the effects of cholesterol and other additives on its viscosity. The analysis show that cholesterol highly increases the viscosity of the oleic acid, as they have a tendency to form a complex between them and hence helps in proper study of the inter- and intramelocular movements o the acid in the liquid state.

Titration of fatty acids solubilized in cationic and anionic micelles. Calorimetry and thermodynamic modeling

Article Abstract:

The electrostatic properties of charged surfactant micelles are investigated through potentiometric and calorimetric titrations of fatty acid probes solubilized in micelles. The results show that dissociation reaction of fatty acid becomes endothermic when it occurs in a micelle, the effect of the dielectric discontinuity are important and must be included in the analysis of titration behavior of acid functionalities at the surface of a charged micelle.

Self-Diffusion, dynamical molecular conformation and liquid structures of n-saturated and unsaturated fatty acids

Article Abstract:

The translational movement, the dynamical molecular conformation and the aggregate structure in the liquid state for three kinds of cis-type unsaturated fatty acids, trans-type unsaturated acid, and n-saturated acid are studied. The discrepancy between self-diffusion coefficient and density values for the acids is well described by the models of the clusters in their liquids.
