Effective Hamiltonian models and unimolecular decomposition

Article Abstract:

A study demonstrates that dividing the Hilbert space into two subspaces, though mathematically exact, hinders satisfying the requirement of a statistical theory of unimolecular composition. It also shows that all implementations to date of [H.sup.eff] - [H.sup.0]-ih[GAMMA]/2 are models in which gateway states couple a manifold or bound levels to continua.

Structure of the crystalline C60 photopolymer and the isolation of its cycloadduct components

Article Abstract:

A new monomer recycling method is worked out for the photopolymerization of C(sub 60) and its yield is increased by one gram. The developments of the preparation method are summarized, the isolation of cycloadduct oligomers by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPCL) is described and a topochemical model for the photopolymerization is suggested.

The Landau-Zener formula

Article Abstract:

The Landau-Zener formula for the probability that a nonadiabatic transition has taken place is derived without solving directly the second-order differential equation. This is achieved in few steps by using contour integration.
