Electrochemical formation of a Pt/Zn alloy and its use as a catalyst for oxygen reduction reaction in fuel cells

Article Abstract:

The characterization of an electrochemically created Pt/Zn alloy by electron spectroscopy is presented indicating the formation, oxidation of alloy and the room temperature diffusion of the Zn into Pt regions. The Pt./Zn alloy is stable up to 1.2 V/RHE and could only be removed with the oxidation of the base Pt metal either electrochemically or in aqua regia.

Monomolecular layers of pyrene as a sensor to dicarboxylic acids

Article Abstract:

Steady state and time-resolved fluorescence studies demonstrated that the emission of the Py functionalized film in both dry and wet state is characterized by the monomer emission and the excimer emission of the fluorophore is discussed. This phenomenon has been attributed to the insertion of dicarboxylic acids into the space between the neighboring spacers.

On the apparent fluorescence recovery due to electrosorption

Article Abstract:

The ability to electrochemically control the distance separating a dye/octadecanol layer from a metal surface and the effects this has on the radiative decay of the dye is reported. A unique observation of fluorescence recovery by the electrosorption process after apparent photobleaching of dye molecules is described.
