Electrochemical metal deposition on top of an organic monolayer

Article Abstract:

Electrochemical metal deposition on top of an organic monolayer was studied by investigating tow systems, one is Pt deposition on a 1,4-benzenedimethanethiol (BDMT) self-assembled monolayer (SAM) and second is hexanedithiol (HDT) SAM on a Au(111) substrate. It was found that metal was deposited not directly on the Au(111) surface but only on top of the SAM reason being the strong interaction between meal ions and the thiol-terminated surface and use of a metal-ion-freed solution which prevented deposition of metal on the Au(111) surface.

Time-dependant impedance of the electro-oxidation of methanol on polished polycrystalline platinum

Article Abstract:

The time dependence of the impedance of the electro-oxidation of methanol on polished polycrystalline platinum immersed in a solution of sulphuric acid is measured. The time dependence of these parameters illuminates the way of change in coverage of an adsorbed intermediate and the buildup of other poisons affects the kinetics and mechanism of the electro-oxidation of methanol.

Impedance spectroscopy of the electro-oxidation of methanol on polished polycrystalline platinum

Article Abstract:

The impedance response of electro-oxidation of methanol and the adsorption of hydrogen were measured directly at active potentials. The results show the presence of five different potential regions between 40 and 800 mV vs RHE where mechanistic changes occur, due to presence of oxygen containing species with different reactivities.
