Homonuclear and heteronuclear NMR studies of a statherin fragment bound to hydroxyapatite crystals

Article Abstract:

The analysis of the (super 15)N{(super 31)P} rotational echo double resonance (REDOR) data is extended by examining the contribution of interactions between surface phosphorous atoms to the observed (super 15)N REDOR decay. The (super 31)P-(super 31)P dipolar couplings are incorporated and the method is applied to reanalyze the (super 15)N{(super 31)P} REDOR of the lysine side chain approaching the hydroxyapatite (HAP) surface.

Shape control of single crystalline bismuth nanostructures

Article Abstract:

Bi nanoscale materials with different shapes were successfully synthesized by a polymer-assisted polyol process. The molar ratio of PVP and Bi was important for the formation of Bi nanotubes, nanoplates and spheres while a trace amount of [Fe.sup.3+] species greatly reduced the nucleation density of Bi and the growth rate, leading to the formation of single-crystal Bi nanobelts.
