Electromagnetic interactions in plasmonic nanoparticle arrays

Article Abstract:

Investigation of single two-dimensional planar silver arrays and one-dimensional linear gold chains of nanoparticles was done by dark-field surface plasmon spectroscopy and studied as a functional of interparticle distance particle size, and number of particles. It is found that the relative contributions of the long-range and short-range interactions in two-dimensional arrays of particles are fundamentally different to those occurring in individual linear chains.

Scattered light interference from a single metal nanoparticle and its mirror image

Article Abstract:

The spatial distribution of surface plasmon scattering from a single nanoparticle, changes dramatically near a metal surface, as a result of interference from the direct scattered light and indirect light from the mirror reflection. The unique interference patterns are reproduced by simulations based on Huygens-Fresnel wave propagation theory.

Optical scattering from isolated metal nanoparticles and arrays

Article Abstract:

The experimental near-field scanning optical microscopy (NSOM) and computational electrodynamics of the optical scattering from isolated metal nanoparticles (MNPs) and MNP arrays are reported. The results show that the scattering is enhanced if the wavelength of light is closer to the surface plasmon resonance.
