Electronic couplings and energy transfer dynamics in the oxidized primary electron donor of the bacterial reaction center

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to understand the experimental observation that P(super +) readily quenches the excitation energy from the neighboring accessory bacteriochlorophylls B(sub L) and B(sub M) is presented. It is concluded that the employing transition density formalism for the dimeric doublet transition densities is the key for calculating both the electronic couplings and electronic energy transfer (EET) rate.

Ordering of single conjugated polymers in a nematic liquid crystal host

Article Abstract:

The near-perfect orientational order of stiff, rodlike conjugated polymers translating through a planar nematic phase is observed. The near-perfect orientational order of the stiff, rodlike conjugated polymers represents an experimental evidence for the enhanced alignment of long rods in the nematic phase of a binary mixture of rods.

Alignment of conjugated polymers in a nematic liquid-crystal host

Article Abstract:

The relationship between the polymer conformation and fluorescence is discussed and a new method for aligning poly[2-methoxy-5-(2'-ethylexyloxy)-1,4-phenylevinylene] (MEH-PPV) is presented. A general procedure and solvent-induced homogeneous dispersion (SIHD) is presented to align conjugated polymers.
