Electronic structure of cytochrome f and its oxidation potential

Article Abstract:

The electronic structure of turnip cytochrome f has been examined using the CNDO technique. To this end, crystallographic coordinates were utilized and the protein chain was truncated to separate the entity Cyt-f that retains the important structural properties of cytochrome f. Results show that Cyt-f contains the basic heme unit, one water molecule hydrogen bonded to a carboxylic acid substituent of the heme unit and one tyrosine residue and pne histidine residue found along the axial positions on top and beneath the iron atom, respectively.

Electronic structure of a Rieske iron-sulfur complex and the calculation of its reduction potential

Article Abstract:

The authors discuss electronic structure of Rieske iron-sulfur complex of spinach chloroplast studied by the CNDO/2 method. Results indicate that the calculated potential for Rieske cluster in the condensed phase of thylakoid agrees with Rieske complex placement in the green plant photosynthesis Z-scheme.

Unique rate expression for glucose production in [C.sub.4] plants

Article Abstract:

A physiochemical interpretation of a formulated temperature-dependent, steady-state rate expression for the production of glucose equivalent in [C.sub.4] plants is provided. It is shown that the rate equation is applicable to a wide range of [C.sub.4] plants.
