Entropic contributions in cosolvent binding to hydrophobic solutes in water

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to investigate the role of entropy in the molecular dissolution process of methane in binary mixtures of water with sodium chloride, dimethyl sulfoxide, and acetone. The cosolvents sodium chloride (NaCI), dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), and acetone were discussed at various cosolvent/water ratios and analyzed in terms of solute-solvent energy and entropy changes upon solute insertion.

Study of aqueous acetone solution at various concentrations: low frequency Raman and molecular dynamics simulations

Article Abstract:

The analyzation of the low-frequency Raman spectra of pure water, pure acetone, and their mixtures at different proportions is presented. The experimental and calculation of this study reveals that the band observed at 60 cm(super -1) in the low-frequency Raman spectra of water is associated with the oscillation of a water molecule within the cage formed by its neighbors.

A persistent carbenium ion on the methanol-to-olefin catalyst HSAPO-34: acetoneshowsthe way

Article Abstract:

CAVERN and pulse-quench methods are used to understand the chemistry of acetone on the silicon-aluminophosphate catalyst HSAPO-34. The findings of this investigation is reported in the context of methanol-to-olefin (MTO) chemistry on HSAPO-34
