FRANCE: BLANCOMME MANUFACTURE ACQUIRED BY BECKER

Blancomme Manufacture, the French industrial paint company located at Pont-de-Claix in the Isere departement and at Thouars in the Deux-Sevres departement has been taken over by Becker, the Swedish company. Becker's French subsidiary, Becker Industrie, located at Montbrison, in the Loire departement, has set an objective of making FFr 600mn in sales in 2001, with its 470 employees. Becker makes EUR 628mn in annual sales. Blancomme made a turnover of about FFr 300mn in 2000. Its powdered paint plant at Fleury-Merogis in the Essonne departement, has been transferred to Vernis Soudee, also at Fleury-Merogis. Its paint operations for food packaging at Sedan, which represents FFr 80mn, has been sold to the German company Rhenacoat.

The French paint company, Sud-Ouest Peintures (FFr 500,000 capital), is transferring its sales operation, worth a net value of FFr 1mn, to Comptoir des Peintures Gauthier. The latter will increase its capital (FFr 35.7mn) by 356,932.
