Fabrication of chiral Langmuir-Schaefer films from achiral TPPS and amphiphiles through the adsorption at the air/water interface

Article Abstract:

Complex monolayer formation between three amphiplies: cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB), octadecylamine (ODA), dioctadecyldimethylammonium bromide (DOAB), and tetrakis(4-sulfonatophenyl)-porphine (TPPS) at the air/water interface are investigated using a Langmuir-Schaefer (LS) method. It was found that the TPPS could form complex monolayers with the amphiphiles at the air/water interface through the electrostatic interaction at pH = 3.1.

Leucine fastener formation mechanism between peptide beta-sheets in a monolayer studied by infrared multiple-angle incidence resolution spectroscopy

Article Abstract:

Infrared multiple-angle incidence resolution spectroscopy, which was developed for the analysis of anisotropic structure in thin films, is employed to study the leucine fastener formation in a monolayer of leucine residues. It is suggested that the conventional molecular orientation model of the leucine fastener should be modified, and the backbone structure plays a necessary role for the interlock of the leucine fastener.

Infrared spectroscopic characterization of [2]rotaxane molecular switch tunnel junction devices

Article Abstract:

Langmuir-Blodgett monolayers of a bistable [2]rotaxane are prepared at packing densities of 118, 73, and 54 A(super 2)/ molecule. Results indicate that tightly packed monolayers and sacrificial functionality displayed at the molecule/ air interface are important design principles for molecular electronic devices.
