Femtosecond fluorescence upconversion studies of light harvesting by beta-carotene in oxygenicphotosynthetic core proteins

Article Abstract:

The femtosecond fluorescence upconversion technique is used to study the energy transfer from beta-carotene to chlorophyll in the photosystem (PS) I core complex and the CP43, CP47 and reaction center (RC) proteins of PSII. The conclusion states that beta-carotene S1 state is insignificant for light harvesting in the PSII core proteins.

Transient absorption study of peridinin and peridinin-chlorophyll a-protein after two-photon excitation

Article Abstract:

Two-photon excited pump-probe spectroscopy was carried out on the peridinin- chlorophyll a-protein complex (PCP) and on the peridinin molecule in methanol solution. The effect of peridinin and peridinin- chlorophyll a-protein after two-photon excitation is studied.

Exciton analysis in 2D electronic spectroscopy

Article Abstract:

A theoretical description of femtosecond two-dimensional electronic spectroscopy of multichromophoric systems is presented. The 2D spectra of the Fenna-Matthews-Olson (FMO) complex are analyzed, revealing excitonic coupling and relaxation processes.
