Glass-liquid transition of carbon dioxide and its effect on water segregation

Article Abstract:

The interactions between C[O.sub.2] and [D.sub.2]O molecules were investigated by using time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry. The monolayer of C[O.sub.2] tends to wet or intermix with the [D.sub.2]O film below 40K and dewets the surface above 60K, and the glass transition temperature of C[O.sub.2] should be assigned to 50K as it defines the onset of the molecular diffusion.

CO2 splitting by H2O to CO and O2 under UV light in TiMCM-41 silicate sieve

Article Abstract:

The study reports an in situ FT-IR and mass spectroscopy study of 266-nm-induced CO2 reduction by H2O in framework TiMCM-41 silicate sieve at room temperature. It identifies CO as the single-photon, 2-electron-transfer product of CO2 at framework Ti centers with H2O acting as an electron donor, which has not been established before.
