Headgroup percolation and collapse of condensed Langmuir monolayers

Article Abstract:

A study of Langmuir isotherms and 2D bulk moduli of binary lipid mixtures is presented, where changes in monolayer collapse pressure are followed while varying the relative amounts of the two components. A distinctly non-monotonic change in collapse pressure is observed with varying composition in the case of monolayers containing dipalmitoylphosphocholine with either hexadecanol or palmitic acid.

Structures in a microemulsion system of an ethoxylated polymethylsiloxane surfactant, water, and oil studied by NMR self-diffusion measurements

Article Abstract:

Pulsed field gradient NMR is used for investigating microemulsion samples of an ethoxylated polymethylsiloxane surfactant, water and 1-dodecanol or 1-decanol as the oil component in order to determine the self-diffusion coefficients. The NMR results have shown that the surfactant molecules do not aggregate into reverse micelles.
