Heterogeneous ECE processes at channel electrodes: voltammetric waveshape theory. Application to the reduction of nitromethane at platinum electrodes

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to develop a theory for heterogeneous ECE reactions at channel electrodes that determines voltammetric waveshape. The theory supports the simulation of the full-current voltage curve for any combination of chosen parameters. Results indicated that heterogeneous ECE type process can be voltammetrically determined if the flow rate dependence of the transport-limited current and the Tafel slope are analyzed in parallel.

Mechanistic aspects of the electrochemical reduction of 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane in the presence of Mg2+ or Ba2+

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze the effects of aggregation of Mg2+ or Ba2+ and electrochemically generated reduced forms of 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane in acetonitrile solution by voltammetric and chronoamperometric methods. The Autolab PGSTAT 20 system was utilized to record cyclic voltammograms while a Brucker ER200D spectromer was used to determine the derivative X-band ESR spectra. In addition, atomic force microscopy measurements were obtained using a TopoMetrix TMX 2010 Discoverer system.
