High conversion synthesis of pyrene end functionalized polyrotaxane based on poly(ethylene oxide) and alpha-cyclodextrins

Article Abstract:

The quantitative synthesis of new pyrene labeled cyclodextrin-based polyrotaxane starting from pseudopolyrotaxane of alpha, omega-dimethacrylate poly(ethylene oxide) and alpha-cyclodextrins (alpha-CDs) is studied. The heterogenous medium with high coupling kinetics is found to be responsible for such a control of the polyrotaxane conversion and this reveals that both hydrogen bonding and packing density can explain rodlike structure of cyclodextrin-based polyrotaxane.

Poly (ethylene oxide): Electronic structure, energetics, and vibrational spectrum

Article Abstract:

The electronic structure, energetics, and vibrational spectrum of poly (ethylene oxide) (PEO) are determined from density functional theoretical calculations on model systems. The simulation of PEO by the finite size cluster approach utilizing oligo (ethylene oxide) model systems with six units, showed a good approximation to the calculation of electronic structure and vibrational spectra.

Structure formation of hydrophobically end-capped poly(ethylene oxide) in the solid state

Article Abstract:

The conformational transitions of hydrophobically end-capped poly(ethylene oxide), hydrophobic-poly(ethylene oxide)-hydrophobic (HP-PEO-HP) is studied using different methods. It demonstrates the effects of the main chain and the solvent on the HP-PEO-HP crystallization process.
