Homonuclear NMR correlations between half-integer quadrupolar nuclei undergoing magic-angle spinning

Article Abstract:

A study to explore both theoretically and experimentally a variety of issues concerning the recoupling of half-integar quadrupole nuclei in the solid state, and their monitoring via 2D exchange magic-angle-spinning (MAS) experiments is discussed. On comparing multispin simulations on small systems with the experimental results collected during the discussion, it is observed that the former usually predicts much faster buildup rates for the exchange also incomplete ridges that suggest substantial anisotropy.

Extended weak bonding interaction in DNA: Pi-Stacking (base-base), base-backbone and backbone-backbone interactions

Article Abstract:

A report is presented on several weak interactions in nucleic acids, which collectively can make a noneligible contribution to the structure and stability of these molecules. A study characterizes the pi-stacking interaction between the nearest neighbor stacked bases, the interactions that a given nuclease has with the backbone and the interactions within the backbone itself.

CH/[pi] interactions in DNA and proteins

Article Abstract:

A systematic study of the CH/[pi] interactions of methane with the purine and pyrimidine bases of nucleic acids and with the lateral chains of the four natural aromatic amino acids which showed two different kinds of clusters depending on number of CH bonds in the aromatic systems is presented.
