In situ S K-edge X-ray absorption spectroscopy for understanding and developing SO(sub x) storage catalysts

Article Abstract:

In situ S K -edge X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) experiments were conducted on second-generation SO(sub x) trapping material under oxidizing and reducing conditions. The application of the in situ S K -edge XANES techniques clearly reveals new information and insights on the behavior of sulfur in the trapping process compared to that from the ex situ measurement and is therefore essential for designing new SO(sub x) trapping material.

S[O.sub.x] storage materials under lean-rich cycling conditions: Part I: Identification of transient species

Article Abstract:

The S[O.sub.x] uptake of second generation sulfur trapping materials is explored by using in situ infrared (IR) spectroscopy under lean-rich cycling conditions. The reduction of a transient surface sulfate species is identified as the vital parameter in the storage process under dynamic conditions.

Spectroscopic characterization of cobalt-containing mesoporous materials

Article Abstract:

Cobalt-containing mesoporous materials are characterized by some of the most common spectroscopic techniques. The presence of cobalt in the silica framework is determined to create Lewis acid sites and these acid sites are suggested to be located at tetrahedral cobalt sites at the surface.
