In situ reactivity and FTIR study of the wet and dry photooxidation of propane on anatase TiO2

Article Abstract:

The photocatalytic oxidation (PCO) of trace amounts of propane on nanocrystalline anatase TiO2 is investigated in situ as a function of temperature, humidity, and time by means of mass spectrometry and diffuse reflectance Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (DRIFT). Findings reveal that propane is primarily converted to acetone by reactions with photogenerated oxygen radicals.

Adsorption and solar light decomposition of acetone on anatase TiO(sub 2) and niobium doped TiO (sub 2) thin films

Article Abstract:

A nanostructural anatase TiO(sub 2) and Niobium(Nb)-doped TiO(sub 2) films made by sol-gel methods are examined to study the adsorption and solar light decomposition of acetone. The results show different degradation rate of key surface intermediates on pure and doped TiO (sub 2), though the lower oxidation rate for the Nb-doped film cannot be satisfactorily explained.

Confined plasmons in nanofabricated single silver particle pairs: Experimental observations of strong interparticle interactions

Article Abstract:

The optical properties of single isolated silver nanodisks and pairs of disks fabricated by electron beam lithography are reported. Evidence is found for extremely strong interparticle interactions by systematically varying the disk size and surface separation and recording elastic scattering spectra in different polarization configurations.
