In situ scanning tunneling microscopy study of the effect of iron octaethylporphyrin adlayer on the electrocatalytic reduction of O2 on Au(111)

Article Abstract:

The electrochemical reduction of O2 on the 2,3,7,8,12,17,18-octaethyl-21H,23H-porphine iron(III) chloride (FeOEP)-modified Au(111) electrode is examined and in situ scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and cyclic voltammetry (CV) are used to examine the relationship between the adlayer structure and the electrocatalytic activity of the self-organized FeOEP layer for the reduction of O2. The results indicate that the mobility of FeOEP on the Au surfaces is an important factor affecting the overall four-electron reduction of O2.

Adlayer structures and electrocatalytic activity for O2 of metallophthalocyanines on Au(111): in situ scanning tunneling microscopy study

Article Abstract:

The adlayers of cobalt(II) and copper(II) phthalocyanines prepared on Au(111) from CoPc- and CuPc-saturated benzene solutions were investigated in 0.1 M HClO4 by using cyclic voltammetry and in situ scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). The CoPc-modified Au(111) electrode was found to enhance the electrochemical reduction of O2 to H2O2, whereas the CuPc-modified Au(111) electrode showed no electrocatalytic activity for O2 reduction.

Electrochemical and in situ scanning tunneling microscopy studies of submonolayer deposition of antimony on Au(100) in perchloric acid solution

Article Abstract:

An investigation was conducted on the adlayers of Sb species on Au(100) in 0.1 M HClO4. Irreversibly adsorbed oxygenous Sb(III) species that formed a quasi (2 x 2) structure on Au(100) was found using in situ scanning tunneling microscopy.
