Influence of particle volume fraction on packing in responsive hydrogel colloidal crystals

Article Abstract:

The influence of particle concentration on the formation of crystals from soft colloidal particles is described using laser scanning confocal and differential interference contrast microscopies. It observes the packing in entropic crystals formed from submicron-sized particles composed of the thermoresponsive polymer poly-N-isopropylacrylamide and the thermoresponsive/pH-responsive copolymer poly-N-isopropylacrylamide-co-acrylic acid.

Electron relaxation in colloidal InP quantum dots with photogenerated excitons or chemically injected electrons

Article Abstract:

The successful injection of electrons into the conduction bands (CB) of indium phosphide (InP) quantum dots (QDs) and the temporal tracking of these injected electrons by transient absorption (TA) spectroscopy is demonstrated. It is suggested that the different surface preparations for the InP QDs primarily affect midgap electron trapping sites, producing only slight variations in electronic relaxation within the CB.

Optical Nonlinearities and ultrafast carrier dynamics in semiconductor nanocrystals

Article Abstract:

Ultrafast carrier dynamics and band-edge optical nonlinearities in colloidal nanocrystals (NC) are discussed. Analysis of band-edge transient absorption (TA) allowed us to establish an accurate relationship between the magnitude of TA signals and NC average populations.
