Interactions between betacarboline and benzenoid pi bases: FTIR evidence for the formation of NH-pi hydrogen bonds

Article Abstract:

An UV-vis and FTIR study of the interactions of betacarboline with benzene, naphthalene and phenanthrene has been carried out. The authors suggest stabilization of the complexes by the hydrogen-bonding interaction between NH betacarboline group and the pi-delocalized benzenoid substrate electrons.
