Interactions between poly(acrylic acid) and sodium dodecyl sulfate: Isothermal titration calorimetric and surfactant ion-selective electrode studies

Article Abstract:

Interaction between a monodispersed poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) with sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) was investigated using isothermal titration calorimetry, ion-selective electrode, and dynamic light scattering measurements. Dynamic light scattering demonstrates that the size of PAA coil increases initially and then decreases upon addition of SDS, suggesting the structural transformation of PAA coils induced by the binding.

Interactions of porphyrin covalently attached to poly(methacrylic acid) with liposomal membranes

Article Abstract:

The interactions between the 5-(4-acryloyloxyphenyl)-10,15,20-tritolylporphyrin covalently attached to poly-(methacrylic acid) chain (PMA-Po) and phosphatidylcholine liposomes in aqueous solution at different pH values are studied. The binding constant for the liposome- PMP-Po in solutions in the pH range from 6.5 to 9.2 were determined using fluorescence spectroscopy.

Interaction between methacrylic acid/ethyl acrylate copolymers and dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide

Article Abstract:

The interaction between dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide (DoTab) and methacrylic acid/ethyl acrylate copolymers was studied using isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) and laser light scattering (LLS) techniques. The thermodynamic parameters extracted from ITC curves suggest that both the electrostatic binding and micellization are enthalpy-opposed driven by entropy.
