Kinetics of photoinduced electron transfer in polythiophene-porphyrin-fullerene molecular films

Article Abstract:

A study of photoinduced electron transfer (ET) processes was carried out by the time-resolved Maxwell displacement charge (TRMDC) method in bilayer structures consisting of an electron donor-acceptor and conductive polymer monolayers, porphyrin-fullerene dyad and polyhexylthiophene respectively. The photovoltage measurements showed that the photoinduced charge transfer in the porphyrin-fullerene dyad is extended by the secondary ET from PHT to the porphyrin radical cation when a PHT monolayer is deposited in contact with the porphyrin moieties.

Energy and electron transfer in beta-alkynyl-linked porphyrin-[60]fullerene dyads

Article Abstract:

A series of porphyrin (P)-C60 dyads with covalent linkages originating from the beta-position of a nickel, zinc or free-base porphyrin to C60 is prepared to assess photophysical and electrochemical properties of such dyads as a function of molecular structure. The electron density calculations have revealed that unfavorable orbital symmetries inhibit charge recombination in related dyads 15 vis a vis the beta-linked dyads.

Vectorial photoinduced electron transfer in phytochlorin-[60]fullerene

Article Abstract:

A novel molecular electron donor-acceptor (DA) dyad, composed of a phytochlorin donor and a [60]fullerene acceptor is used for the preparation of solid molecular films capable of performing vectorial photoinduced electron transfer (VPET). A variation in the charge recombination rate was observed when a static bias voltage was applied across the films.
