2000 crop protection round-up

Article Abstract:

The market for glyphosate has been highly lucrative especially for Monsanto, which transformed its glyphosate-based Roundup herbicide into the industry's first billion-dollar proprietary, branded product. However, the emergence of a variety of generic preparations of glyphosate from American Cyanamid, Cheminova, Dow AgroSciences and BASF will likely glut the market and eat into Monsanto's market share. Monsanto, however, is countering the new competition with two new products for use on Roundup Ready seed.
